What you not gone do is…

You have made your resolutions, bedazzled your vision boards, and placed inspirational sticky notes on every mirror in your house. The celebrations are over and you are ready to take on the New Year by force. The last thing that is on your mind are the obstacles that will come along. But guess what, they are coming! The doubts, setbacks, hold ups, it is all inevitable and how we deal with those things determine our success. So this year, as we set our goals and speak aspirations, let us also determine our strategic defense for when the devil tries to stop us. We are on a mission to live our best life. We are intelligent in our decision-making; we are intentional in our actions; and we are determined to attain all that our hearts desire. And what the devil not gone do is stop us!

Here are a few tips for handling some scenarios that may surface as the enemy tries to derail us from reaching our goals this year.

SCENARIO #1 You decide to share your goals with a close friend or family member and they dampen your spirit. There always seems to be a “but”, “how”, or “why” and never a “how can I help”, “you can do it”, or “go for it”. Majority of the time it was not their intention to do so. They simply cannot comprehend the vision of which you are speaking… and that is okay. However, there are those who succumb to jealousy and do not want to see you prosper. But “WHAT YOU NOT GONE DO IS” let their disbelief water the fire in you. Remember this is a spiritual fight so we will respond as such. Politely end the conversation dead in its tracks and excuse yourself. No explanation needed! Continue to show love towards the person, pray for them, and ask God to surround you with likeminded individuals who will uplift you on your journey.

2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

SCENARIO #2 You’re ready to start that business. Maybe you decided to continue or start college. You have met all the requirements and only one step away from becoming “official”. However, nothing seems to be going right. There is always a hidden fee, a fax that just did not go through, or a rude customer service rep that is not so helpful. Stay positive! Wooosahh, hold your head up, and keep strutting because “WHAT WE NOT GONE DO IS” let a little bump in the road discourage us.

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.
